Our planet is wrapped in an invisible but powerful shield that makes life on Earth possible. In this session of Stories the Earth Tells, geologist Dan Gish explores the fascinating science behind Earth’s magnetosphere and the magnetic field that surrounds our planet.
Generated deep within Earth’s core, this magnetic field stretches far out into space, forming a protective barrier that deflects harmful solar radiation and charged particles streaming from the sun. Without it, life on Earth would look very different.
